Although everything changes for us in understanding and embracing the nine words that change everything, our Enemy never grows weary. He never ceases in his mission to hunt us down and dilute or destroy what God has birthed in us. The subject of this chapter is our constant kingdom checkup to discern whether we have strayed temporarily out of our lane when the “whole world seems upset.”

The key to this cornerstone quality of kingdom saints is, again, found in Isaiah 9. There we are told the zeal of God would bring Jesus to us, one of His names would be Prince of Peace, there would be no end to the increase of His peace, and that His kingdom would be ruled over in justice and righteousness forevermore. In John 14, Jesus said He would give us a peace the world could not give, and therefore our hearts were not to be troubled or fearful. The first proclamation concerning Jesus came from a band of angels, appearing to a group of shepherds in the fields at the time of His birth (Luke 2). They proclaimed, “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” Likewise, the first words out of Jesus’ mouth when He stood, resurrected, before His community of frightened followers were “peace be to you.” He said it twice before saying anything else. The first fruit of the kingdom is unshakable peace.
