Pray… Give unto the Lord, O my soul—dedicate unto the Lord Jesus this day your fealty, trust, and strength! Give unto the lamb who was slain the glory due His name as you worship Him clothed in holiness! Your voice is heard throughout Your creation, Lord Jesus. Your power reigns over all that has been made. You are my God of glory who thunders! The voice of Your command is mighty and full of majesty. Even Your whisper humbles the strong. Like matchsticks in a whirlwind, You scatter them. But You also make the humble leap with joy and the faithful dance and rejoice in the halls of Your kingdom!
The sound of Your voice divides flames of fire and shakes the wilderness! With but a word uttered from You mothers give birth and forests are laid bare. As You once sat enthroned over the great flood, so now You sit enthroned as our eternal King. Lord Jesus, You are the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation, our government rests upon Your shoulders, and You give salvation, strength, and purpose to Your people. You bless them with Your peace that passes all human understanding, and as Your words thunder through Your creation all creatures everywhere shout “Glory!”
Consider… I am the Lord, and there is no other. I am the One forming light and creating darkness, and causing well-being and creating calamity. I am the Lord who does all these. Our God is an awesome God, whose voice thunders across time and space. He sits as king over both catastrophe and blessing. He grants us seasons of peace, and then shakes our foundations. He gives us visions of the heavens, and then leads us to traverse desolate valleys that seem without end. He does all this so we will be careful to never forget He is to be feared, even as we enjoy the benefits of His love and grace. “Guard your steps therefore as you go to the house of God.” We need to stand in awe, ascribe to Him glory and strength, and listen to His voice, whispering of thundering. We must remain steadfast and immovable in our faith through both blessing and testing—willing to accept that well-being and calamity are both for the good as He prunes us and molds us into something far greater than we could ever dream or imagine. Oh yes, praising Him in all things, and not just in blessing—giving Him the glory and strength due His holy name from both mountaintop and valley, is worshipping in the holy array of grace!
